Erica Wang, a former Peninsula Hotel concierge, had been set to marry Todd English at a $150,000 wedding in October 2009. Hours before the planned ceremony at the St. Regis Hotel — after having been missing for days — English phoned Wang and said, “I know this call is long overdue, but I can’t marry you today,” she recalled in a Post interview a week later.
Erica Wang, who made headlines when hunky celebrity chef Todd English left her at the altar in 2009, took a wrist-slap, no-jail, no-probation misdemeanor plea to resolve her nearly $50,000 luxury Manhattan shoplifting spree.
A Sephora employee who witnessed the chaos said, “She stole from almost every brand in the store. She was obvious about it,” a worker said. “When she walked out of the door, she said, ‘I’ll pay double for everything! Please!’ It took [cops] 15 minutes to get her down the stairs. She knelt on the floor. She said, ‘I have money.’ She pleaded with her hands clasped, ‘I’m the ex-fiancée of Todd English!’”
Wang also has an arrest record. She was busted at Bergdorf Goodman for boosting goods from their Fifth Avenue store, a now-sealed case says. Wang, 36 at the time, had been working for the flagship Ralph Lauren store on Madison Avenue at East 72nd Street for about eight months before the bust.
