John Viscardi - Biography

JOHN VISCARDI is an actor, writer, director, producer born and raised in New York City with over 30 years experience in the entertainment industry. John graduated from Columbia University with a BA in English Literature and got his start as an acting intern at the Circle Repertory Theatre Company performing in plays by John Bishop, Craig Lucas and Paul Zindel. John recently performed the lead in the Off Broadway play "The Wood" by Dan Klores at the Rattlestick Theater in NYC directed by David Bar Katz. His two most recent regional productions were at Syracuse Stage and Cape May Stage where he played the roles of Uncle Louie in Neil Simon's "Lost In Yonkers" and Michael Novak in Yasmina Reza's "God Of Carnage". John created the role of Father Tony in ABC 's "One Life To Live" and has performed numerous guest leads on "Law and Order", "Law and Order: Criminal Intent", "The Sopranos" and "Queens Supreme" for CBS. As a writer, John's plays have been recognized as finalists in several competitions including the Actor's Theatre of Louisville's Humana Festival and The Ensemble Studio Theatre's One Act Marathon. John's first play "Sheer Boredom" received its premiere at the George Street Playhouse and starred Matthew Arkin, Joel Rooks and Harsh Nayar. It was directed by Tom Bullard with sets by Tony Award winner, John Lee Beatty. In 2014 John along with his writing partner, composer/lyricist, Thomas Hodges were commissioned to write a musical for the Perry Mansfield Performing Arts Camp in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The Musical was "Underground" and was overwhelmingly received. "Underground" is now in development for a commercial run in NYC. John currently teaches film appreciation at York Prep School in New York City where he also directs their main stage shows. ​John is married to Emmy nominated actress, Fiona Hutchison. Together they have two wonderful teenage boys, Hutch and Trevor.
