Jon Rose is a star in and out of the water. How many people in their twenties do you know who have already made a fortune doing what they love, traveling the world to surf and write and take photographs of their experiences. Quiksilver, the international action clothier put him up in his own house in Laguna Beach when he was seventeen. Since then he’s been to more countries than your office vacation adventurer dreams about and enough remote places within those countries to make even a geographer double check his maps. By the time he was twenty he had visited and lived in Bali, Thailand, the Philippines, England, Australia, France, South Africa, Japan, South America, Central America, and India. At twenty-two his brooding good looks started landing him modeling gigs kicked off by an eight page Maxim spread, which featured him stripping out of Armani into board shorts. But in this age of vapid, coddled stars, Rosy is an anomaly. Not only is he an accomplished photographer whose photos have appeared in numerous national magazines, but he’s also the author of Towards Miles, a critically acclaimed beat type photo diary chronicling his soul searching wonder van road trip through the U.S.’ heartland. Yet his quest to find truth through art and his wünder lust stem from humble beginnings and thus he’s remained grounded. An intellect – he’s a Wittingstein & Jim Morrison fan!- who’s just as comfortable drinking Red Stripe with fisherman in the Caribbean as he is sipping Vodka Martinis with the Wall Street crowd, almost anybody feels great hanging out with Rosy.
