Noel Appleby - Biography

Noel Appleby was an actor, known for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) and The Navigator: A Medieval Odyssey (1988).
Appleby began his acting career as an actor in commercials. After minor roles, he became known to a broad audience in 1987 through his involvement in Vincent Ward's fantasy film The Navigator. For the interpretation of the involuntary time traveler "Ulf" Appleby was awarded in 1989 at the New Zealand Film and TV Awards for Best Supporting Actor. He also appeared in the Cheech Marin comedy Kangaroo Carlos, as a vampire hunter in the horror comedy My Grandfather is a vampire with Al Lewis and as Bilbo Beutlin's cousin "Odo Stolzfuß" (in the movie "Everard Proudfoot") in Peter JacksonFantasy Blockbusters The Lord of the Rings: The Companions and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King after JRR Tolkien's novel trilogy.

Appleby belonged to Paul Norell, Martyn Sanderson, Stephen Ure and Craig Parker to a group of 15 actors who sued in the wake of the success of the trilogy, the production company for participation in profits by merchandising, with the lawsuit failed.
