Jac Vanek - Biography
Jac Vanek is an American designer, alternative model, and amateur photographer residing in Los Angeles, California. She has a minor internet following for her designs, for her stint as a so-called "scene queen" in the Los Angeles alternative scene, and for a brief relationship with former Panic! At the Disco guitarist Ryan Ross.Vanek was born in Orange County, California on May 9, 1987 to Mary and William. She graduated from University of California, Los Angeles in 2009 with a degree in Media Arts. She was awarded a Regents Scholarship for all four years that she attended UCLA.While Vanek was still in high school, she started a blog on the website LiveJournal and began to post amateur modeling shots of herself, for which she gradually gained internet fame. It was through LiveJournal that Vanek first met Ross, whom commented frequently on her blog before Panic! At the Disco had been signed to a record label. Her blog operated from December of 2003 to August of 2008, during which time Vanek's primary claim to fame was her internet modeling career and her short-lived relationship with Ross, who dated her briefly after his band had been signed.During her modeling career, Vanek was featured in the cover art of Chicago-based emo band June's debut album, If You Speak Any Faster which was released on August 23, 2005. She also appeared in several music videos, including Cobra Starship's "Send My Love to the Dancefloor, I'll See You in Hell" and The Click Five's "Catch Your Wave." Vanek launched her own apparel line in mid 2007, which started out featuring the famous "statement bracelets" and soon grew to sport t-shirts and "vintage necklaces." Vanek has been associated with Warped Tour since 2004, where she was a band photographer two summers in a row. She's been a regular touring member since 2008, selling her bracelets and clothing and advertising her business. Vanek was also mildly notorious in certain circles online for a feud she had with fellow scene queen and Panic! At the Disco ex-girlfriend Audrey Kitching. The two no longer speak.
